Then one day, a friend of mine told me about PMI and their project management body of knowledge. I did not know such things existed in the first place. But at that point, I had no proper ground or framework based on some recognized project management practices or standards. ![]() The only thing was that I was not aware that I was managing projects back then :) As the time passed, I devised some processes, tools and techniques for myself that allowed me to get results consistently when I had to enroll new clients to use our payroll solution. I started managing projects over 10 years ago when I was an account manager for a payroll firm. It’s not a brief overview, but rather a pretty detailed story of how I prepared for the exam to succeed and what lessons I learned in the process. I assume the readers of this article already have a little knowledge about PMBOK, PMP certification and PMP exam (number and types of questions, length of the exam, etc.). But I hope those getting ready for the exam will find some of the information in the article useful.
